Abstract

This article examines one of the sociolects-slangs, their place in world and Uzbek linguistics.  Evidence-based opinions on the content and scope of some verbal slangs widely used among Uzbek youth are presented.  Slang is the speech of young people who make up a significant part of the standard monolingual population, and their study is an effective factor in controlling language development in society.  The scientific study of slang helps to observe the changes in language and linguistic elements in the minds of young people over time.  Considering the fact that the speech of young people shows the process of linguistic modernization and mixing with other languages, one can feel how important this sociolect is when studying the life of society and language in direct connection.
